The legend fast bowler and Former captain Pakistan cricket team Wasim Akram survived in a firing attack and assassination attempt when unidentified armed persons opened fire at his car on Shah Faisal road near Karsaaz in Karachi. The fast-bowler however remained safe in the attack.

Following a row with the driver of the car, a 2002 Honda Civic bearing registration number AEG-061, the private guard sitting with the driver fired at Akram’s car. Before police could arrive at the scene, the drive and his guards managed to flee. However, there were no casualties reported during the incident.

“A car hit my vehicle from the rear and a person sitting in the other car fired a shot at me”, the fast bowler told while speaking to a private news channel. He further alleged that it appeared to be a government official who attacked him and that he has given the registration plate number to police.

The cricketer has been shifted to safe place while the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) East Munir Sheikh said that police was trying to retrieve CCTV footage of the incident to identify the attackers.
